About the Role
Responsible for preparing and filing Indirect Tax returns and maintaining tax compliance with reporting of taxes. May provide services in tax research, audit responses, and other specific tax-related areas. Ensures company compliance with government laws and governing tax rules for Indirect Taxes, sales and use, Property Tax, and/or other tax areas.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns and related supporting documents/work papers (Indirect Taxes, Sales & Use, Excise, Canadian Taxes, etc.).
- Reconcile GL tax accounts.
- Perform tax research and provide interpretation and application of tax rules.
- Prepare and/or review responses to tax authority inquiries.
- Review tax packages for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide tax technical support for restructuring.
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of changes in tax legislation, rulings, regulations, and litigation that may impact the business.
- Prepare and reconcile data for Property Tax filing.
- Business License preparation.
- Provide support to internal customers for tax-related issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Thorough knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts in area of discipline.
- Competent in all job functions with a general understanding of industry practices, techniques, and standards.
- Develop recommendations for a variety of situations, improvements on job duties, and work on projects requiring evaluation and analysis.
- Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion; may receive limited guidance for new assignments.
- Collaborates with management and team members within the department/function and other areas of the organization; may represent the department internally or externally.
- Experience with preparing and filing returns throughout the U.S. and Canada.
- Vertex Return software preferred.
Qualifications
- Typically 3+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
