Target Range Technician, DMVA
About the role
Join the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) as a Target Range Technician and become part of the team that supports the vital training mission at Fort Indiantown Gap. Responsibilities
- Range Maintenance: Perform upkeep and repairs on all assigned ranges and training structures to ensure functional conditions
- Target Construction: Build and assemble a wide variety of training targets and components using carpentry and fabrication tools
- System Operation: Operate automated and computer controlled ranges and assist units with range equipment usage
- Electrical Tasks: Locate and correct power issues, install wiring, and repair or replace related electrical components
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain tools, forklifts, and small loaders while following all safety procedures
- Training Support: Assist with simulators and prepare armor targets, generators, and additional equipment for training events
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Four years of trades work experience, which includes two years performing skilled work on electrical or electronic systems or equipment in a commercial or industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years performing skilled work on electrical or electronic systems or equipment in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Special Requirements: You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- Additional Requirements: You must be able to pass a background check to obtain and maintain access to federal computer networks. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of any formal training (high school vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical training program) in a skilled building or mechanical trade
- Experience working in the carpentry trade field
- Experience working in the electrical trade field
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotational weekends as required. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
