Tank Fitter in Catawba, SC

About the role

The Tank Fitter position is available at our Catawba, SC Pulp & Paper Project for several months. This role is part of Graywolf, a heavy industrial/commercial construction contractor with a national presence, offering comprehensive services from design to facility management.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions of all kinds of structural, plate and mechanical materials into all types of assemblies.
• Inspects and measures fabricated components using calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
• Fabricates vessels and shell plates to construct water towers and storage tanks.
• Performs or assists with fit-up and preparation of welds.
• Performs or assists with post-weld cleanup, inspection, and repair.
• Communicates regularly with the Field Foreman regarding issues and concerns.
• Performs all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 3 years of prior tank welding/fitting experience.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and accurately with employees and customers.
• Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Physical/Site Requirements

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
• Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
• Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
• Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
• PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
