We provide secure, high-quality language solutions in more than 80 languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Tamil Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Tamil is a critical South Asian language, widely spoken in India, Sri Lanka, and the global Tamil diaspora, and is often required for asylum and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Tamil ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Deliver interpretation with accuracy, neutrality, and confidentiality in immigration and legal contexts.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and compliance standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Tamil and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, medical, community, or government preferred).
- Strong understanding of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
- Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
