Tamil Interpreter

About the role

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Bilingual Tamil-English Phone Interpreter to work from home. We are looking for professionals fluent in Tamil and English, with the ability to handle sensitive cultural differences and communicate effectively in various industries.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Tamil and English speakers.
• Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
• Understand and follow protocol for various industries including healthcare, insurance, finance, and law.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and work in a diverse environment.
• Handle calls involving sensitive topics such as end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression.

Requirements

• Fluency in Tamil and English.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to concentrate and remain neutral during interpreting sessions.
• At least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages (highly preferred).
• Must be able to adapt to LLS technology enhancements.
• Must have access to a quiet space free from background noise or distraction.
• Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for the majority of the workday.

Qualifications

• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be able to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Must be able to work in a certified ASTM and ISO environment.
• Must have the ability to provide the required, company standards of service within a dynamic environment.

Skills

• Strong language skills in both Tamil and English.
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
• Technical proficiency with company-provided software and systems.

Pay

$0.60 - $0.75 per minute.

Schedule

This is a remote position where the Interpreter works from their home-office. It is essential to ensure a quiet & secure environment.
