About the Role

JMU Talent Development (TD)’s mission is to grow the talents of JMU's employees. We are seeking a dependable, proactive, and hospitable undergraduate from any major who will assist the Talent Development team in genuine training room and office hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist guests at the front desk, including phone coverage.
  • Prepare materials for workshops, maintain supplies, and set up rooms for events.
  • Prepare refreshments, greet participants, set up the podium computer, assist facilitators, and give opening announcements for workshops.
  • Maintain room readiness by rearranging furniture and anticipating needs for upcoming events.
  • Collaborate with team members on projects and participate in team meetings to provide updates.
  • Use Microsoft 365 programs to communicate and prepare for Talent Development events.
  • Complete recurring tasks on time and maintain professionalism for office and training room visitors.

Qualifications

  • Be a full-time student.
  • Have availability during business hours (8 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday).
  • Be detail-oriented, proactive, and willing to learn new skills.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a current JMU student enrolled in at least 6 credits and qualify for Federal Work Study (FWS).
  • Verification of FWS eligibility must be provided with your application.

Pay

Minimum starting pay rate: $12.77 per hour.
