About the role

The Talent and Leadership Development Officer (TLDO) serves as the lead Human Resources Officer for Hiawatha Academies and is responsible for leading the network's people strategy, human resources functions, labor relations, talent management, organizational culture, and compliance efforts. As a member of the Executive Team, the TLDO partners closely with members of the Network Executive Team and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies that attract, develop, retain, and support a high-performing and mission-aligned workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic leadership for all human resources functions, including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, leadership development, performance management, organizational effectiveness, compliance, educator licensure, and workforce planning.
  • Led the People Team and ensures that human resources systems and practices advance organizational excellence while supporting an equitable and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Demonstrates exceptional leadership, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex organizational challenges while maintaining a strong commitment to Hiawatha Academies' mission, values, and strategic priorities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in HR, preferably in a K-12 education setting.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective HR strategies and programs.
  • Experience in talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, leadership development, performance management, organizational effectiveness, compliance, educator licensure, and workforce planning.
  • Strong understanding of labor laws and regulations relevant to K-12 education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
