About the Role
This position is a temporary assignment through Jefferson's internal staffing pool, JeffTemps. The role involves recruiting and screening applicants for positions within Jefferson, matching applicants' qualifications to job requirements, and referring qualified candidates to appropriate departments for interviews. The position also includes performing special projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Recruits, screens, and refers applicants for new or existing positions within Jefferson, utilizing knowledge of specific job requirements.
- Conducts lawful employment interviews.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with Jefferson department heads, supervisors, and personnel in other organizations, agencies, and educational institutions.
- Reviews hiring criteria and prepares recruitment plans with hiring supervisors, ensuring appropriate grade levels are established.
- Gathers information needed to recruit and utilizes creative resources to identify qualified applicants.
- Ensures supervisors receive applications and Jefferson Service Standards as appropriate.
- Negotiates salary offers with supervisors and compensation personnel, extending salary offers including start date and orientation attendance.
- Verifies references, education, and licenses/certifications of job candidates.
- Prepares recruitment advertisements for newspapers, websites, journals, and postings.
- Controls individual advertising budget for recruitment responsibilities.
- Uses databases, web, and other creative resources to source qualified applicants and maintains control of classified ads.
- Performs special projects as assigned by the Manager.
- Interacts with the general public and representatives of other institutions as requested.
- Enters relevant applicant and new hire data into Workday and arranges new hire processing schedules.
- Completes agreements of employment and prepares offer letters and paperwork for newly hired employees, including scheduling physicals and sign-in.
- Performs courtesy interviews for applicants.
- Provides consulting services to Jefferson Management regarding the hiring process and counseling to employees being displaced or those interested in career development.
- Teaches training classes to Jefferson Management regarding hiring, selection, and onboarding policies and procedures, as well as other related employment materials.
- Prepares activity reports and develops projects as requested by the Manager.
- Demonstrates creative and aggressive proactive recruitment alternatives, particularly in critical job categories.
- Interacts with external employment and advertising representatives.
- Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the University.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 1 year of recruitment experience in a comparable organization with duties similar to those enumerated.
- Experience in the utilization of support staff is beneficial.
- Experience with agency or temporary staffing preferred.
Physical Demands
- Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting/standing.
- Frequent keyboard use.
