About the Opportunity
The Talent Acquisition Director is responsible for leading recruitment and hiring efforts across the organization to attract and retain the talent necessary to achieve its goals. This role ensures fair and rigorous hiring processes, builds strong partnerships with hiring managers, and develops strategic talent pipelines to support organizational growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee recruitment for business and editorial staff in a growing investigative journalism organization.
- Conduct full life-cycle recruitment with support from the talent acquisition team.
- Build relationships with hiring managers and advise on hiring decisions and candidate selection.
- Develop and provide training on recruitment processes and technologies.
- Use data to inform recruitment advertising and search strategies.
- Recommend and implement improvements to hiring processes.
- Manage team workload and resource allocation to support hiring demands.
- Report departmental metrics and goals to leadership.
- Develop and manage external talent pipeline strategies and partnerships.
- Create systems to identify and cultivate potential candidates.
- Engage senior leaders in recruiting and nurturing relationships with passive candidates.
- Plan and oversee the organization's presence at industry and affinity conferences.
- Manage and develop the talent acquisition team.
Requirements
- At least seven years of recruitment leadership experience, preferably in media or nonprofit sectors.
- Minimum five years of supervisory or people management experience, including hybrid or remote teams.
- Proven success in building and nurturing diverse talent pools.
- Familiarity with metrics-driven fair hiring practices.
- Strategic and operational thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel, and applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
