About the role

The Tailor at John Varvatos plays a key role in shaping the client experience through expert craftsmanship and precision tailoring. You’ll ensure every garment reflects the elevated standards and signature fit that define the Varvatos aesthetic: effortlessly cool, sharply refined, and always intentional. Working closely with the store team, you’ll deliver high-quality alterations that enhance each client’s personal style while upholding the integrity of the product and brand.

Responsibilities

• Execute expert alterations on men’s tailored garments including leather jackets, blazers, trousers, shirts, and outerwear. This includes adjusting sleeve lengths, tapering bodies, altering pant lengths, and customizing fit based on individual needs.
• Provide bespoke-level attention to detail when marking, fitting, and finishing garments to ensure each piece aligns with John Varvatos’ luxury standards.
• Maintain an organized and well-functioning tailoring workspace with all tools and machines in proper working condition.
• Partner with the sales and management team to support client fittings, offer tailoring insights, and help create an exceptional end-to-end customer experience.
• Uphold a deep understanding of the brand’s styling principles and craftsmanship to help preserve the DNA of every piece during alteration.

Requirements

• Skilled tailor with prior experience in luxury menswear or designer fashion.
• Background in leather, specialty fabrics, or avant-garde cuts is a plus.
• Expert in garment construction, hand and machine sewing, and fitting techniques.
• Strong eye for detail with the ability to preserve the original design and edge of every garment.
• Professional, well-presented, and able to communicate effectively with both clients and team members.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, fashion-driven retail environment.

Pay

$38.00 - $40.00 USD/hour (full-time hourly role).
