Tailman

Responsibilities

• Aid in the installation of storm drain, sanitary sewer, and water main systems.
• Set and secure pipe to line and grade under direction of Pipe Layer and Foreman.
• Guide heavy equipment operators using hand signals and radio communication.
• Install gaskets, couplings, and fittings.
• Check grade using laser levels and grade rods.
• Backfill and compact around installed pipe.
• Ensure proper bedding and compaction of trench materials.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Assist with loading/unloading materials and tools.
• Perform general labor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to use hand tools and small equipment.
• Physical ability to stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Out-of-town travel and/or overtime may be possible.
• A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus, but not required.
