Tactical OPFOR / Former SOF Role Players

About the role

DarkStar Intelligence is seeking former Special Operations Forces (SOF) professionals to serve as Tactical Opposing Force (OPFOR) role players supporting NSW field training in Southern California. OPFOR role players replicate a thinking, tactically proficient adversary to challenge SOF trainees in realistic force‑on‑force scenarios. This position requires former SOF experience and an active Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Act as tactical OPFOR, including engagement with marking cartridge weapons.
• Execute realistic adversary tactics; operate marking/blank weapons after instruction.
• Stay on script; wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Travel to and perform at California ranges per task order.

Requirements

• Former SOF background.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Ability to pass high‑risk training suitability screening per OPNAVINST 1500.75C and COMNAVSPECWARCOMINST 1500.1.
• Physical fitness for austere environments and night operations; able to be restrained/zip‑tied, stand/lie prone for extended periods, wear full PPE (helmet, throat guard, groin guard), and be engaged with non‑lethal marking ammunition.
• Basic weapons handling/safety proficiency; able to operate marking/blank weapons after instruction.
• Availability to work up to 12‑hour days and accommodate short‑notice nights/weekends and ±2‑day schedule shifts.
• Ability to travel to and perform at CA ranges (Niland, San Clemente Island, Fort Hunter Liggett, San Diego, Seal Beach).
• Ability to protect CUI and comply with security/dissemination and standards‑of‑conduct requirements.

Desired Qualifications

• USSOCOM‑unit experience.
• Prior OPFOR/role player experience.
• Familiarity with NSW/SOF scenario design.
