About the Role

Sabre Systems is seeking a Tactical Operations and Air/Weapons Specialist (Journeyman) to support the Navy’s Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Robotic & Autonomous Systems (PAE RAS) as a Flight Clearance Product Developer at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The AIR PMO operates under PAE RAS, focusing on aircraft-related unmanned systems, including testing, certification, and operational integration of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for shipboard and shore-based operations. This role coordinates program aspects such as battery certifications, funding, flight clearances, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development to ensure safe and effective fleet integration.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule with telework authorized. During the first six to nine months, the candidate will primarily work on-site approximately one week per month for in-person training and mentoring to obtain NAVAIR Empowerment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for information and process knowledge regarding specific type Flight Clearance (FC) for assigned platform(s), including fleet use, training, testing, change recommendations, services contracts, FMS services, and Contractor Owned/Contractor Operated services.
  • Coordinate and execute the management and development of all assigned FC products.
  • Track and ensure the transition of Interim FC (IFC) content into the appropriate Permanent FC (PFC).
  • Create, update, and submit tracking reports to the PMA and other stakeholders on the status of current IFC/PFC products.
  • Develop required content and facilitate FC progression through each engineering review for airworthiness approval.
  • Create and present formal briefs in support of new or changing fleet capabilities and/or new type UAS.
  • Facilitate or host meetings/briefings as needed by the APME/APMSE or other PMA team members.

Requirements

  • HS/GED and 8 years of related experience, or an Associate’s degree and 6 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience.
  • Experience developing and implementing configuration management procedures for technical data.
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders including NAVAIR Systems Engineering Leadership, NAVAIR Engineering Subject Matter Experts, and Fleet users.
  • Experience in Flight Operations as a member of a crewed aircraft platform, manned or unmanned (Civil or DoD applications).
  • Working knowledge of FAA NAS policies as they pertain to different class areas, altitudes, and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of DCMA, DoD, OPNAV, CNAF, NAVAIR documents, directives, orders, and/or instructions related to flight operations and maintenance procedures for unmanned and manned platforms.
  • Knowledge of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) flight/operator/maintenance manuals’ use and structure, and ability to translate OEM information into DoD/NAVAIR program procedures and technical language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and strong computer-use background, including editorial and graphics software on local, networked, or web-based platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Application of critical thinking to solve problems.
  • Self-sufficient, motivated, and proactive with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • U.S. Citizenship.

Travel Requirements

Planned travel is 10% CONUS/OCONUS (Hawaii only).

Preferred Experience

  • UAS operations and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with UAS technology.
  • Use of Collaborative Tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

Pay

The salary range for this position is $110,688.00 - $123,378.00, based on location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements.
