About the role
DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Test & Integration Engineer to support the design, release, and maintenance of technical data packages and advanced test programs. This role plays a key role in the design, development, and integration of Special Test Equipment (STE) for critical flight hardware.
Responsibilities
- Support the integration of missile test programs by ensuring tactical requirements are mapped to specific test cases and fully verified
- Maintain the IBM DOORS database for assigned subsystems, entering changes, creating links, and generating traceability reports
- Aid in verifying the readiness and hardware/software configuration baseline of Special Test Equipment (STE) prior to active testing windows
- Collaborate with test operators and technicians to execute hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulations and environmental test profiles
- Author and update step-by-step test procedures directly derived from DOORS requirement baselines
- Document test floor anomalies, log hardware/software discrepancies, and participate in root-cause troubleshooting investigations
- Gather, review, and compile post-test data to populate compliance matrices and technical design packages
- Coordinate daily with project managers, systems architects, and laboratory teams to maintain the testing schedule and mitigate risks
- Communicate task status, technical roadblocks, and testing metrics clearly to engineering leadership and program stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical discipline) from an accredited university
- Two (2) to Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering, test integration, or hardware validation
- One (1) year or more of experience utilizing IBM DOORS for tracking, tracing, and managing system or subsystem-level requirements
- Familiarity with creating and maintaining Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs) to map requirements to test events
- Exposure to Special Test Equipment (STE), hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) test benches, or automated telemetry/data acquisition setups
- Basic understanding of configuration management principles for hardware configurations and software test builds
- Strong technical writing skills with experience drafting test procedures or verification reports
- Analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills across interconnected hardware and software elements
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively between design engineers, lab technicians, and test floor personnel
Qualifications
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Professional experience supporting missile systems, precision-guided munitions, or integrated air and missile defense programs
- Experience utilizing Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW to interface with test equipment or analyze post-test data streams
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler
- Understanding of military standards for testing, environment simulation, or interface control documentation (ICDs)
- Experience participating in formal milestone events such as Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) or Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR)
