About the Role
Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of HVAC and building automation systems. A key member of the Albireo team, the Systems Specialist executes HVAC Building Automation projects, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface.
Responsibilities
- Performs start-up, checking, testing, system diagnostics, and commissioning from system-level controllers to end devices for small to medium-sized new or retrofit projects.
- Performs preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and repairs control components, controls systems, and mechanical, HVAC, and electrical issues related to BAS control system operation.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots networking and integration for complex control systems.
- Writes, creates, loads, tests, and commissions programming software and graphics using various programming languages and software.
- Executes assigned work efficiently and professionally.
- Communicates with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site; meets regularly to address operating problems and keeps them informed on service nature, outstanding issues, and system enhancements.
- Promotes the sale of add-on work, upgrades, or system replacements.
- Trains customers in control systems operations, including providing training certificates.
- Completes and submits job documentation such as commissioning records, punch lists, and marked-up controls submittals for as-built creation.
- Coordinates with service managers, project managers, or subcontractors on projects in an ethical and professional manner; reports problems or changes to management immediately.
- Assists sales by providing technical recommendations for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements; may assist with job layout.
- Conducts self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines; completes required certifications.
- Loads and updates software on network controllers, field controllers, computers, and servers.
- Completes and submits timely electronic documentation, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site records.
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems.
- Vocational school graduate (four-year program) or Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a related field.
- One to two years of increasingly responsible experience servicing electronic controls and HVAC equipment; ability to coordinate work on multiple job sites.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company professionally and ethically to customers and external contacts.
- Experience writing and demonstrated understanding of computer programs and software applications related to the HVAC industry.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Pay
$25–$28 per hour, depending on experience.
