About the role

The Systems Solutions Manager (SSM) role at Daikin Applied is a high-impact position for a systems thinker who can translate complex HVAC capabilities into differentiated, customer-centric solutions. This leader will define and champion the future of Daikin Applied’s integrated HVAC system solutions, leveraging deep expertise in HVAC system design and a nuanced understanding of customer challenges.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer pain points into differentiated, integrated HVAC solutions strategies and drive alignment with business units and other internal stakeholders to shape product and solutions roadmaps based on an aligned system strategy, ensuring delivery of high-value, system-level innovations that support our strategic system story narratives.
• Serve as a trusted SME, translating deep knowledge of HVAC system design, performance, and application into actionable guidance.
• Deploy content to communicate systems narratives to engineers, developers, architects, and end users through direct engagement and presentations.
• Continuously capture field feedback, monitor competitive dynamics, and translate insights into actionable opportunities. Maintain a prioritized list of opportunities for future execution for content development, new technology exploration, and system solutions.
• Guide organizational M&A and internal technology development prioritization and opportunity evaluation by delivering early-stage assessments for potential technology opportunities for systems solutions enablement.
• Develop high-impact technical content (white papers, webinars, presentations, and publications) that communicates system-level value to the market, educating and influencing the adoption of Daikin solutions by customers.
• Represent Daikin Applied within key professional organizations (e.g., ASHRAE, USGBC, AEE) to enhance brand credibility and influence industry direction.
• Guide the product manager for how these products will integrate into the broader Daikin system story, and manage creation of content deliverables to support the product launch.
• Support Daikin customer sales events and gather voice of customer feedback through business travel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field.
• 8-10 years of relevant experience in HVAC industry.
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Team-oriented mindset.
• Strong history of aligning different stakeholders with competing priorities towards a common goal.
• Sales-aware mindset with the ability to influence customer design decisions and guide solution alignment.
• Project management skills to coordinate efforts across multiple groups to influence without authority.
• Deep HVAC experience, preferably with a variety of different kinds of systems - both air-side and chilled water.
• Strong story-telling and communication skills.
• Capable of independent operation.
• Coachable, with innate curiosity to drive professional growth.
• Strong ability to articulate both HVAC system-level design and product-level technical detail in executive and customer-facing settings.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred.
• Demonstrated writing capability preferred.
• Energy modeling experience preferred.
• Familiarity with key industry mega trends such as decarbonization, the refrigerant transition, and IAQ preferred.
• Established Industry Group participation or leadership (e.g., ASHRAE) preferred.
• HVAC system design experience as a consulting engineer or sales rep preferred.

Pay

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $113,800k - $193,900k and a bonus potential up to 20% in MN. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Schedule

This role is remote in the United States. Travel is typically 25-35%, but may vary based on business needs.
