Responsibilities
- Understand safety regulatory requirements applicable to the aircraft and system development program and tailor the safety assessment process to ensure these requirements are met to the satisfaction of airworthiness authority.
- Perform safety assessments for one or more aircraft systems in accordance with SAE ARP4761A (FHA, FTA, CCA/CMA, FMEA).
- Define appropriate safety targets using airworthiness regulations and guidance material such as 14 CFR 2X.1309 for developmental aircraft and systems and develop safety mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with airworthiness authority and Designated Engineering Representative to validate safety targets.
- Verify the implementation of mitigation strategies and provide recommendations and limitations.
Requirements
- B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience interacting with technical teams coupled with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Understanding and experience with design safety engineering principles for safety critical systems.
- Experience with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, or similar standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Pay
The company expects to pay a starting base salary within this range for this role: $101,000 - $127,000 per year.
