Systems Programmer III

Description

Position Purpose: Write or debug programs to maintain and control computer systems software, such as operating systems, networked systems, and database systems. Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software.

Performs work under minimal supervision. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.

Required Education To Qualify for This Position

• Bachelor's in a job-related field OR
• 4 years of job-related work experience OR
• Associate's and 2 years job related work experience

Required Work Experience

• 4 Years IT experience including varied programming experience.

Required Skills And Abilities

• Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
• Comprehension of advanced data storage techniques, basic database philosophy, database management, and advanced programming techniques.
• Solid understanding of currently utilized programming productivity tools and their use.
• Solid understanding of quality assurance and implementation strategies of systems software.
• Able to acquire knowledge of programming languages and tools used in the department.
• Able to analyze software specifications for completeness and compatibility with operation systems.

We Prefer That You Have Experience With

• z/OS system programming, installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies including z/OS, JES2/JES3, SDSF, TSO/ISPF, RACF, and Sysplex environments.
• Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical enterprise systems with 24x7 operational requirements.
• Familiarity with disaster recovery planning, business continuity testing, and recovery procedures.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting highly resilient IBM Z environments, disaster recovery solutions, and business continuity capabilities.
