About the role

Visionist has an exciting new, fully funded opportunity for a Systems/Network Administrator on our prime contract. You will join a team of 20+ who work together to provide full-lifecycle support to a software application that provides multi-media ingest, storage, query, playback, analysis, and transcription capabilities. This program performs development, pre-production staging, and production maintenance and support activities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rack, cable, configure, and maintain physical servers, networking equipment, and supporting infrastructure within development and test environments
  • Configure and verify server connectivity to ensure systems are reachable and properly integrated into the network environment
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, including system configuration, user management, services, logs, and basic performance monitoring
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, and network issues to maintain system availability and reliability
  • Assist with the deployment and maintenance of virtualized environments using platforms such as VMware, Xen, or Nutanix
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible to simplify recurring administrative tasks and improve operational efficiency
  • Perform system patching and configuration updates to maintain STE/STN compliance requirements
  • Assist ISSO/ISSE teams with system hardening, security configuration, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities
  • Support Windows patching and basic administration tasks when required
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system build procedures, troubleshooting guides, configuration records, and operational processes
  • Follow established procedures while identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, repeatability, and supportability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree)
  • 5 years of experience in systems/network administration
  • Hands-on experience supporting IT infrastructure, including server installation, rack/stack activities, cabling, hardware troubleshooting, and system bring-up
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot servers to ensure proper network connectivity and accessibility
  • Working knowledge of Linux system administration and common troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiarity with networking concepts including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as VMware, Xen, or Nutanix is a plus
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or similar configuration management technologies is a plus
  • Ability to follow, create, and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Understanding of system patching, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance requirements is preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies in a hands-on infrastructure environment

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to lift, move, and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as part of routine system maintenance, server installations, and hardware troubleshooting activities. Candidates should be comfortable performing physical infrastructure tasks, including rack installation, cable management, equipment replacement, and hands-on system support.

Pay

Salary range: $110,000 - $170,000
