About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit has an opportunity for an Associate Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer or Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer. This position supports a growing portfolio of programs and IRADs focused on missile defense, space, and intelligence, working on modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) projects across the entire systems engineering lifecycle.

The role focuses on developing and analyzing models and simulations using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). Candidates should thrive in collaborative, challenging, and diverse assignments.

This requisition may be filled at either Level 1 or Level 2, depending on qualifications. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze models and simulations using AFSIM or similar frameworks.
  • Support modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) project teams across the systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Conduct trade studies and apply trade study methodologies.
  • Support development of systems engineering models using SysML and Cameo Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
  • For Level 1: 0 years of related work experience.
  • For Level 2: 2 years of related work experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM with 0 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • Experience with AFSIM, Ansys Systems Tool Kit (STK), or similar mission-level modeling and simulation frameworks.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with Ansys ModelCenter or SIMDIS.
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP/ESEP certification or Object Modeling Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP).
  • Graduate Certificate or Model Builder Fundamental Certification.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,300.00 – $103,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 – $125,200.00

Base salary offers consider scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differentials, discretionary bonuses, annual bonuses, and long-term incentives (for Vice President or Director roles).
