About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team to build, integrate, and test space vehicles at both the sub-system and system levels. This role is an individual contributor position where you will design assembly and testing campaigns, resolve technical issues, and advance large-scale manufacturing and automation. You will be a subject matter expert, develop innovative solutions, and provide guidance to the group while working mostly independently.

Responsibilities

  • Design assembly and testing campaigns.
  • Write, review, and execute assembly and test procedures.
  • Manage work orders and drive nonconformances.
  • Resolve electrical and mechanical issues, debugging at the satellite system and sub-system level.
  • Enable day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow.
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration.
  • Interface with engineers and technicians to advance to larger-scale manufacturing and automation.
  • Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and testing.
  • Work hands-on, standing for extended periods.
  • Plan and execute multiple highly complex projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and within-budget completion.
  • Provide guidance to associate engineers or other engineers and review their work.
  • Train personnel outside the work group.
  • Give effective presentations to high-level customers and represent the work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams.
  • Write convincing proposals and reports for external consumption.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field.
  • 0+ years (Associate Engineer - level I) or 2+ years (Engineer - level II) of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Skills

  • Experience with assembly, integration, and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and structural systems, including vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum, and radiation testing.
  • Electrical debugging of PCB assemblies, including the ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Documentation and configuration management experience.
  • Experience writing test plans and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment.
  • Experience in a production environment within the aerospace industry, particularly a cleanroom with ESD precautions.
  • Ability to read and write basic code in any primary programming language.
  • Experience using Linux-based operating systems.

  • Master's degree in a relevant STEM field.

Pay

Associate Systems Integration Engineer (Level I): $80,000 - $95,000 USD

Systems Integration Engineer (Level II): $85,000 - $125,000 USD

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case based on job-related qualifications, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Schedule

Weekday shift (Monday - Thursday), 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

Physical Demands

  • Routinely required to sit or stand for long durations, bend, reach, and walk.
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Generally sedentary with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment within a manufacturing company. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners is required.
