Systems Integration Engineer

About the role

Meta is seeking an experienced Systems Integration Engineer with technical leadership experience in Server Hardware, high-performance Compute, Storage, ASICs, Accelerators (GPU), and/or Networking in a data center environment. This role focuses on the successful integration of new hardware platforms and infrastructure technologies into the data center, including system design for serviceability (DFS) requirements, validation of data center hardware tooling and automation, and troubleshooting critical systematic issues at scale.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex integration challenges, influence hardware and tooling architecture, and ensure operational readiness for emerging data center and hardware technologies.

25% domestic and/or international travel is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product introduction and associated processes for the successful launch of new hardware platforms into Meta’s data centers globally.
• Lead architecture reviews with hardware engineering teams to analyze and develop diagnostic coverage plans for both hardware and software.
• Drive system Design for Serviceability (DFS) requirements to ensure form, fit, and function for new hardware development in Meta’s existing data center environment.
• Lead the development and execution of Data Center readiness tooling validation testing based on tooling development plans.
• Engage early with design development teams (both internal and external) to drive improvements and influence hardware and tooling architecture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and development partners to deliver aligned new hardware platform roadmaps and gain agreement on implementation milestones.
• Work with Meta’s Data Center Operations team to understand infrastructure deployment and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with Production Engineers, Hardware Validation Engineers, Tooling Automation Engineers, and Data Center Operations Engineers to build thorough test strategies and plans for validating software needed for Data Center Operations.
• Work with ODM/OEM vendors to define product specifications, development plans, and test plans.
• Capture lessons learned from production issues and create test cases to address those issues in future hardware platforms.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering or a relevant field, or commensurate technical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in system administration or engineering, hardware validation testing, and/or acceptance testing of AI/ML, compute, storage, or networking equipment.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical issues and align on project milestones.
• Experience developing test plans derived from specifications and executing them using industry-standard testing tools.
• Experience with ASIC, compute, storage, and network architecture and components, hardware troubleshooting and diagnosis, and/or hardware manufacturing.
• Experience working with geographically distributed remote teams.
• Experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, PHP, C++, or Java).
• Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs.
• Experience with operational validation methods and verification activities for new product integration.
• Experience building cross-functional relationships and influencing policies and procedures to improve hardware platform integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with git or similar SCM tools.
• Experience with test-driven software development.
• Experience with hardware development and lifecycle management.
• Experience with developing for, or managing large-scale server installations.
• Knowledge of out-of-band/lights-out server communication methods, such as IPMI and serial console.
• Experience with Linux operating systems and utilities.
• Experience with AI/ML hardware development and deployment at scale.
• Master's in Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing engineering.

Pay

$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
