Systems Engineering Lead

About the role

The Systems Engineering Lead will conduct comprehensive systems engineering activities to support the client platform. Responsibilities include translating customer requirements into detailed system designs, developing and analyzing system alternatives, defining user roles and personas, creating and maintaining system models, diagrams, and technical documentation, performing trade studies, evaluating technical options, developing verification and validation procedures, participating in technical reviews, ensuring seamless system integration, identifying and mitigating technical risks, supporting the resolution of technical issues, implementing requirements traceability, conducting system performance analysis, and developing technical specifications for system components. Evaluating emerging technologies for potential system enhancements, supporting system testing activities, and contributing to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and methodologies are also part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer requirements into detailed system designs
• Develop and analyze system alternatives to recommend optimal solutions
• Define user roles and personas to establish appropriate system access controls
• Create and maintain system models, diagrams, and technical documentation
• Perform trade studies to evaluate technical options against requirements
• Develop verification and validation procedures to ensure system compliance
• Participate in technical reviews to assess design progress and quality
• Ensure seamless system integration
• Identify and mitigate technical risks before they impact delivery
• Support the resolution of technical issues throughout the system lifecycle
• Implement requirements traceability to verify all customer needs are addressed
• Conduct system performance analysis to optimize operations
• Develop technical specifications for system components
• Evaluate emerging technologies for potential system enhancements
• Support system testing activities
• Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and methodologies

Requirements

• One of the following advanced degrees: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering
• Completion of one of the following accepted training programs: Systems Developer (Advanced) Playlist
• Holding one of the following professional certifications: FITSP, DGCSA, GISSP, SSCP
• 10+ years of experience with systems engineering
• Expert knowledge in systems engineering for complex technical platforms
• Demonstrated ability to translate requirements into detailed system designs and support integration and documentation throughout the system lifecycle
• Skilled in risk mitigation and performance optimization
• Experience in risk mitigation and performance optimization

Qualifications

• Active Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI, or TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance required, depending on position

Pay

The base pay range for this position in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, and the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland is $135,200—$278,500 USD.
