About the Role

Join a team that designs, integrates, and tests next-generation communication and electronic warfare systems for the United States Department of Defense and international customers. This dual role combines technical leadership and engineering management, operating in a player-coach model where you will manage a team of engineers while also contributing as an individual technical leader. You will work on sophisticated digital Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, focusing on Electronic Attack within cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams. The role emphasizes customer-first innovation in developing advanced electromagnetic spectrum operations systems to detect, locate, and counter threats for joint and international aircrew.

Responsibilities

Engineering Manager

  • Manage a team of 8-10 engineers, reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Section Manager.
  • Recruit, retain, train, recognize, and develop systems engineers to align with business needs.
  • Assign team members to programs, IRADs, and proposals.
  • Develop individual and group goals and objectives.
  • Collect and provide performance feedback.
  • Communicate company, business area, and discipline information.
  • Mentor and develop career and training plans.
  • Ensure adherence to BAE Systems' cultural principles, policies, and vision.

Technical Contributor

  • Deliver innovative Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions through system development, requirements development, integration & test, and test planning/execution in field deployment environments.
  • Lead medium or large teams of Systems Engineers on EW-related programs.
  • Manage all system engineering content and work products.
  • Implement the product development process, including schedule and cost account responsibilities.
  • Execute systems planning and requirements development, including software, component, subsystem, and operational concepts.
  • Allocate requirements to engineering disciplines.
  • Create and review system test plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Lead product design, development, integration, and verification.
  • Engage with customers, contractors, and government officials.
  • Manage and participate in trade studies, peer reviews, and customer meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations internally and with customers.
  • Monitor and report metrics such as System Technical Performance Measures.
  • Support proposal development activities, including proposal text, cost and schedule estimating, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science with 10 years of work experience.
  • Technical team leadership experience.
  • Strong skills in people management and team collaboration within systems engineering and across disciplines.
  • Able to evaluate root cause and make timely decisions.
  • Able to lead a team to adapt to changes effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Systems, Software, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Integration & test experience in EW Systems.
  • Functional management leadership experience (e.g., performance management, staffing).
  • EW system design experience and product development across the engineering lifecycle (e.g., requirements analysis, architecture design/development, integration, verification, sell-off, security accreditation, and maintenance).
  • Experience with Systems Engineering development of DoD systems.
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • Experience developing/reviewing technical and cost artifacts for new business activities.
  • Experience supporting trade studies, concept of operation development, Cost Account Management, engineering initiatives, and agile process application.

Schedule

This is a full-time, onsite role requiring 100% on-site work at a BAE Systems facility due to the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and onsite work requirements.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $149,603 - $254,317. Individual salaries are determined by factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
