Systems Engineer with Security Clearance
About the role
Collaborate with operations and development teams to identify testing needs and develop test plans. Triage reported operational issues. Perform daily monitoring of Tier 1 application health and status metrics. Report issues detected during testing or system usage via the ticketing system. Perform system and application installations, upgrades and production system security patching. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency. Provide operational support and/or training to users. Monitor and respond to application-related Jira Service Desk tickets. Occasionally respond to mission-critical after-hours calls. Participate in minor CONUS/OCONUS travel (~1–2 times per year).

- Maintain and optimize AWS services including computing, networking, storage, identity management, monitoring, and backup/recovery capabilities
- Monitor and respond to application-related Jira Service Desk tickets
- Occasionally respond to mission-critical after-hours calls
- Participate in minor CONUS/OCONUS travel (~1–2 times per year)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. (Additional 4 years of experience may substitute degree)
- 10 years of experience in systems engineering
- Experience with GitLab and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working in Linux environments (RHEL 8/9, Rocky 8/9)
- Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure solutions in AWS environments
- Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues spanning multiple technology domains and environments
- Experience administering and optimizing AWS services including computing, networking, storage, identity management, monitoring, and backup/recovery capabilities
- Experience with Grafana
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Experience providing customer support through Jira Service Desk
