Responsibilities
- Support engineering team with projects, leading own projects managing consultants and automation vendors.
- Author comprehensive, system-level schematics/diagrams (motors, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, and power distribution).
- Conduct deep dives into unfamiliar technologies, defining control strategies for integration and testing critical system components.
- Define control strategies to integrate custom technologies into our core architecture.
- Lead design and strategy for pneumatic and fluidic controls, including manifold configurations, overall routing/plumbing architecture, and safety strategy.
- Partner with Mechanical Engineers to spec needed sensors, actuators, cables, connectors, etc.
- Commission and support on-site and remote troubleshooting during installation, system startup, and ongoing operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.
- 5+ years of engineering work experience, at least 2 of which are in a System Integrator or Systems Engineering role in the industrial robotics/automation industry or similar.
- Experience working with 3rd party vendors to make custom build/specced equipment to solve engineering problems.
- Proficient in creating clear, logical system maps, wiring diagrams, pneumatic and plumbing diagrams, and flowcharts using tools like Lucidchart, Visio, or similar.
- Proficient at CAD, control system wiring, and software scripting to rapidly design, build, and evaluate engineering concepts.
- A solid foundational understanding of electromechanical systems.
- Comfortable designing or architecting electromechanical, pneumatic or fluidic systems from the ground up.
- Familiarity with modern agile and project management tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro, etc.) to track progress and manage tasks effectively.
- Excellent communicator and ability to interface with vendors and third parties to describe requirements and evaluate component suitability.
