About the role
The Systems Engineer, MBSE is responsible for improving IT infrastructure, optimizing business operations, and setting the direction for integrating information applications and programs. This role involves cataloging, developing, coordinating, communicating, maintaining, and enforcing enterprise architecture models, representations, initiatives, capabilities, and components to support the organization's business and technology activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in modeling and analyzing military systems and their broader system-of-systems architectures.
- Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) to define system functions and develop functional and performance requirements.
- Develop architectural views using DoDAF/MODAF (UPDM) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
- Analyze MBSE models to derive mission threads and use cases for system-level verification planning.
- Evaluate internal functions, business development strategies, and IT processes, suggesting improvements.
- Create business architecture models reflecting organizational strategies and goals.
- Assess systems engineering, talent recruiting, and accounting models for discrepancies and vulnerabilities.
- Recommend cost-reduction strategies in IT and business leadership.
- Organize training to enhance employees' knowledge and skills for future growth.
- Provide guidance on business architecture and systems processing.
- Ensure efficiency, security, and support of organizational goals.
- Develop methods for compliance architecture, including data storage, metadata management, and change control.
- Determine and implement build versus buy strategies, mentor personnel, and align with overall business strategy.
Requirements
- 3+ years of demonstrated enterprise experience.
- Technical BA/BS (Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics) or equivalent preferred but not required.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
Skills
- Architecture & Design using Cameo.
- Experience in DoDAF, SysML, and UML modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience using Cameo Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or comparable tools.
- Experience with MATLAB, STK, AFSIM, Simulink, Model Center, or other modeling and simulation tools.
- Proven experience in descriptive modeling for architecture solutions (e.g., building models and diagrams with Cameo EA).
- Solid understanding of Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
- Hands-on experience with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
- Excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills.

- Experience in modeling and graphic representations.
Pay
Estimated pay range: $125,000 USD - $145,000 USD. Actual salary will be based on location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure, certification, and business needs.
