Job Description

Team Summary: We operate mission-critical systems that enable Visa’s clients and processors worldwide. As an Associate Systems Engineer, you’ll join a global team that plans, implements, and supports secure, resilient endpoints and platforms—partnering closely with vendors and global support groups to deliver nimble, client-centric solutions.

What a Associate Systems Engineer Does

  • Provide project management, technical advice, and hands-on support to client institutions and processors—consistently exceeding customer expectations.
  • Cook up implementation scripts (Shell, python & more) for vendor field engineers and support teams to enable installation and activation.
  • Work hand-in-hand with on-site vendor engineers to perform remote installations of Linux systems.
  • Work proactively with Global Support, clients, and vendors to deliver flexible solutions and resolve system problems quickly.
  • Manage customer satisfaction, commitment, and expectations to high service levels, handle escalations appropriately.
  • Ensure deployments follow Visa security guidelines, report and remediate any non-compliance.
  • Communicate and collaborate cordially within a global team across cultures and time zones.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business problems into AI use cases, define requirements, and design solution architectures.
  • Collect, clean, and prepare data, build and train models (traditional ML and deep learning/LLMs), evaluate performance and iterate.
  • Design, build, and maintain agentic workflows where LLM “agents” can plan, call tools, and coordinate multi-step tasks (e.g., retrieval, calling APIs, writing to databases).
  • Deploy models as APIs or services, integrate with existing applications, implement and tune orchestration around tools and plugins (MCP-style connectors, function-calling schemas, vector DBs), including prompt design, safety/guardrails, and evaluation of agent behavior.
  • Ability to isolate and resolve critical system issues to minimize impact and downtime, strong analytical judgment under minimal supervision.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support multiple systems during off-hours, work evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Provide weekly reporting for CMDB and BASE II records, act as Change & ServiceNow Coordinator to ensure incidents/changes comply with ITIL and ServiceNow rules.
  • Act as Inventory Record Coordinator to ensure accurate and timely inventory updates.
  • Possess a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistics, including working with SQL.
  • Experience with large language models and GenAI, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and evaluation of LLM-based applications.
  • Familiarity with Visa deployment/security standards and audit/compliance processes.
  • Vendor coordination and remote install support across global time zones.
