About the Role

Join the Air Traffic team at RTX’s Connected Aviation group in Marlborough, MA, and help develop the next generation of the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS), the backbone of air traffic management in the United States. You’ll work on a dynamic systems engineering team modernizing STARS under a new contract, supporting software design, development, and testing while ensuring rigorous performance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the software team in designing, developing, and testing operational and non-operational software updates for STARS program releases.
• Play a key role in verifying requirements by developing rigorous sell-off criteria.
• Contribute to modernizing air traffic control systems across the U.S.
• Gain exposure to multiple air traffic systems and help develop solutions for future integration.
• Develop plans and procedures to verify system-level requirements and lead test verification events with customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent STEM field.
• U.S. citizenship is required (only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract).
• Must be willing and capable of obtaining a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to receive and understand technical direction, meet assignment deadlines, and collaborate in office and laboratory environments.
• Prior experience in requirements verification or test procedure development.
• Experience with commercial or open-source test automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Grafana, Gherkin/Cucumber, Selenium, CUnit/JUnit, Kickstart).
• Experience with Red Hat Linux 9.x.
• Knowledge of integration and test best practices.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $57,200 – $108,800 USD. The range reflects all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer. Eligible employees may also participate in annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, depending on role level and collective-bargaining agreements.
