Systems Engineer Consultant

Responsibilities

• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements, deliverables, and manage large-scale requirements sets across multiple programs.
• Author and refine Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and detailed system documentation.
• Support system decomposition, requirements traceability, and interface definition.
• Collaborate directly with Navy/DoD stakeholders and communicate effectively at both technical and customer levels.
• Own and drive complex technical issues to completion with minimal oversight.

Requirements

• Strong experience with requirements development and systems engineering lifecycle (V-Model).
• Prominent ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage high-volume, detail-heavy engineering workstreams.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust in customer environments.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience or 10+ years supporting SSBN operations or as a US Navy sailor.
• Experience supporting Navy programs (NAVSEA, SSP, DoD).
• Experience in weapon system integration or mission systems.
• Experience operating in customer-embedded or advisory roles.
• Familiarity with ICDs and interface-driven system design.

Job Type & Location

• This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, MD.

Pay And Benefits

• The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
