About the role
Long Wave Inc. is seeking a mid-career Systems Engineer to take ownership of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements management, and architecture development for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. This role is suited for engineers with several years of experience who can manage requirements baselines, contribute to system-level design, and ensure compliance with program standards while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Apply MBSE methodologies to develop and maintain system architecture models, supporting requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities.
- Develop, document, and manage requirements baselines throughout the lifecycle. Ensure full traceability and alignment with DoD standards, and lead resolution of requirements issues.
- Contribute to and lead aspects of system design and integration, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, maintainability, and safety standards.
- Develop verification strategies, author test plans, and lead execution activities to validate system performance against requirements.
- Generate and maintain detailed technical documentation, including specifications, interface definitions, and test artifacts, for internal and customer use.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and specialty engineering to drive integration and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Ensure engineering processes and deliverables meet DoD acquisition policies, standards, and customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions

- Occasional travel to locations where specific PPE or attire is necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Experience with MBSE concepts and tools (Cameo experience preferred).
- Active DoD Secret clearance or higher is preferred; US Citizenship and eligibility for a DoD clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with DoD acquisition processes, lifecycle management, and air vehicle (aircraft) integration.
- Familiarity with simulation and modeling tools, and experience with Agile development methodologies.

Schedule
9/80 schedule: employees work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.
