About the role
DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Systems Engineer (SE) to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the successful design and manufacturing of a processor on a missile seeker to meet the performance, reliability, and safety requirements of the seeker system.
Responsibilities
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
- Evaluate customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
- Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture.
- Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
- Develop, maintain, and identify improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Resolve cross-functional technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications of the design and development of the processor subsystem for the missile seeker.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers, to integrate the processor into the overall missile seeker system.
- Define and document the processor's architecture, interfaces, and operational characteristics.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines in the design and implementation of the processor assembly.
- Support test plans and procedure development to verify the functionality and performance of the processor subsystem.
- Support the troubleshooting and resolution of any technical issues or anomalies related to the processor during development, integration, manufacturing, and testing phases.
- Collaborate with project managers to establish project schedules, milestones, and deliverables related to the processor.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in gimbal assembly technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance the performance and capabilities of our missile seeker system.
Requirements
- Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree in a related Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics)
- System engineering experience (2+ years) including architecture and interface development and definition and requirement derivation
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to missile seeker systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in design and development of processors for missile seekers or similar precision tracking systems
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques for electronic assemblies, including PCB design and fabrication
- Proficiency in using engineering software tools for modeling, simulation, and analysis (e.g., CAD, FEA, MATLAB, etc.)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot technical issues
