Systems Engineer 2
Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in Ft. Meade, MD, supporting challenging, mission-critical projects that directly impact the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.
About the role
This position supports operations and sustainment of a Zero Trust Architecture, including documentation for FVEY Network Support Plans (NSP’s) and 2P partners. The role involves Data Tagging within a data-centric Attribution Based Access Control (ABAC) model. The Systems Engineer will serve as an Ambassador to the IC Community and other partners, collaborating with teams, users, customers, and community partners to resolve issues promptly.
The candidate will assist in creating documentation to describe the inner workings of the 2PGW and gain a comprehensive understanding of its components. The role requires familiarity with standard system engineering documentation, leadership in organizing Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), troubleshooting user issues, and making process improvement recommendations to enhance usability and accessibility for stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Support operations and sustainment of a Zero Trust Architecture, including documentation for FVEY Network Support Plans (NSP’s) and 2P partners.
- Serve as an Ambassador to the IC Community and other partners, working collaboratively or independently to resolve user issues.
- Create documentation to describe the inner workings of the 2PGW and understand its individual components.
- Lead, organize, and schedule Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) with internal and external entities.
- Troubleshoot user issues and report information in a meaningful way.
- Participate in making process improvement recommendations to enhance usability and accessibility for stakeholders.
- Analyze system requirements and guide design and development activities.
- Provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, design, and technology into ongoing operations.
- Develop technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation.
- Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration/test plans.
- Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations, problems, issues, or conflicts.
- Maintain technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.
- Communicate with program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.

- Ability to analyze system requirements and lead design and development activities.
- Experience guiding users in formulating requirements and advising on alternative approaches.
- Conduct feasibility studies and provide technical leadership for integrating new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations.
- Develop system architecture and design documentation.
- Experience with system development, implementation planning, and system integration/test plans.
- Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and associated deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five years of additional Systems Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree (total of 15 years).
- 10+ years of Systems Engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required.
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in a collaborative environment with minimal supervision.
