About the role
The Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is seeking an on-site (mandatory) Systems Design Engineer to address complex issues and problems in the lab or Data Center. The role involves managing a ticketing system, debugging software and hardware problems, root-causing and resolving issues, and monitoring the lab/data center for problems such as power outages, network outages, or liquid cooling leaks. The individual will also physically install and replace hardware, debug firmware and OS issues—particularly related to GPUs—and work with CPU and GPU-based Data Center systems as both a technician and engineer.
Responsibilities
- Work issues through a JIRA ticketing system, ensuring priority items receive attention.
- Debug platforms and systems, communicating clearly in tickets to explain the current state of an issue.
- Take direction from leaders based on business priorities.
- Collaborate with partners, vendors, ODMs, and OEMs to resolve issues and maintain clear communication.
- Drive continuous improvement within the organization.
- Monitor the lab/data center for issues such as power outages, network outages, or liquid cooling leaks.
- Physically install and replace hardware, and debug firmware and OS issues, especially related to GPUs.
Requirements
- Self-driven expertise in debugging problems and root-causing issues.
- Ability to quickly understand and apply specific details to tickets.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Proven track record of working in a Data Center on complex systems.
- Knowledge of JIRA, scripting, and debug methodologies (BMC, BIOS, GPU).
- Linux skills, including running automated scripts, analyzing logs, and providing updates.
- Experience working and communicating with OEM partners and vendors.
Desirable Attributes
- System-level debug methodologies.
- Proficiency with standard hardware lab equipment (e.g., dediprog, scopes, forklifts, lift tools).

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive issues to resolution.
