Systems Development Engineer, Video Infrastructure
About the role
Worldwide Operations Security is seeking a Systems Development Engineer to develop video analytics functionality and create innovative video security solutions built upon leading AI engines such as Amazon Bedrock and Rekognition. You will design and build systems to deploy, maintain, and extend internal video capabilities globally, using AWS products and DevOps patterns to build next-generation video tools.
This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from strategic planning to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on your services. You will deliver consistent, well-defined results in an agile development workflow, driving innovation and delighting internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain cloud-based video analytics solutions for use by internal stakeholders.
- Create and maintain cloud-based automation applications for the deployment and configuration of 1P and 3P video solutions.
- Continuously strive for operational excellence by providing cost-effective and highly available solutions.
- Participate in the original creation and implementation of scalable infrastructure automation tools for Amazon’s global Operations video security infrastructure.
- Ensure all products are designed to be secure, robust, scalable, maintainable, and adaptable as services scale and evolve.
- Build instrumentation to provide visibility into product health, along with alerting and self-healing capabilities.
- Uphold a high standard of code quality and engineering excellence.
A day in the life
Our team develops analytics and automation tools using AWS services and internal AI platforms to provide video solutions to internal security and safety teams. We use Agile Scrum, conducting biweekly sprint planning meetings and three standups per week. Typical project work includes creating new solutions based on customer requirements, while operations work involves escalation support for front-line teams.
About the team
The security video solutions at Amazon sites are critical tools for ensuring associate safety and facility security. Our team’s vision is to ensure video applications and infrastructure are easy to deploy, properly configured, highly available, and used to their full potential. We collaborate closely with stakeholders in Loss Prevention, Operations, and Safety to deliver results.
Requirements
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build processes.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering.
Pay
Base salary ranges:
- USA, AZ, Tempe: $99,100 – $160,000 USD annually
- USA, TN, Nashville: $94,200 – $160,000 USD annually
Additional compensation may include sign-on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
