Systems Development Engineer II, US Amazon Dedicated Cloud Security Engineering

About the role

AWS Security is seeking a Systems Development Engineer II to manage the operation of our physical access control system (PACS) and help automate a sustainable and robust architecture for future growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall health and security of our critical service, providing excellent customer service to our partners in a classified environment. This position requires a US Citizen with a current, active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement enterprise-scale security solutions from conception to production, including custom PACS integrations and security automation frameworks
• Design and develop high-availability distributed systems with emphasis on security, scalability, and fault tolerance
• Lead the development of custom security tools and frameworks for system hardening, threat detection, and automated incident response
• Architect and implement zero-trust security models for critical infrastructure components
• Design and build custom APIs and middleware solutions for security system integration
• Develop advanced automation frameworks for infrastructure as code (IaC) deployment and configuration management
• Create sophisticated monitoring and alerting systems using machine learning for anomaly detection
• Implement cryptographic solutions for secure communication between distributed systems
• Design and implement custom authentication and authorization protocols
• Lead technical design reviews and security architecture assessments
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical best practices

Requirements

• Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
• Experience with systems administration on either Linux/UNIX or Windows operating systems
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Base salary range: $129,200.00 - $174,800.00 USD annually
