About the role
We are seeking a motivated Systems Design Engineer to support the Advanced Concept Engineering (ACE) Group. In this developmental engineering role, the successful candidate will assist senior technical leaders in advancing ACE’s engineering capabilities by contributing to innovation efforts, internal R&D (IR&D) activities, technology insertion, and aligning engineering work with customer needs. This position provides hands-on experience across the engineering lifecycle—from concept exploration through analysis, integration, and transition support—while working closely with multidisciplinary technical teams.
The Systems Design Engineer 2 will help translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions, support the evaluation of emerging technologies, and contribute to cross-functional coordination. This role offers strong exposure to strategic technical activities under the guidance of experienced ACE engineers and leadership, with opportunities to grow across diverse technical domains and advanced concept development.
Responsibilities
- Support systems engineering activities including requirements development, analysis, integration, and technical assessments.
- Support the development and maintenance of ACE technical roadmaps and related planning activities.
- Help identify capability gaps and contribute technical inputs that strengthen ACE’s position in current and adjacent areas.
- Provide supporting analysis and technical input on digital engineering, modeling and simulation, and data-driven tool development.
- Collaborate with Business Units and other groups to help recognize and address technical barriers under senior guidance.
- Support integration efforts across multidisciplinary teams, including hardware, software, and system-level components.
- Analyze technical data, develop reports, and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with the development, evaluation, and transition of advanced technology concepts.
- Support technical reviews, engineering studies, and customer engagements.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and program stakeholders to identify technical challenges and develop solutions.
- Support research and development (IR&D) activities related to emerging defense technologies.
- Develop technical documentation, briefings, and other engineering deliverables.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- 2+ years of related engineering experience.
- Active Secret Level Clearance.
- Experience with engineering analysis, modeling and simulation, or systems integration.
- Experience using technical computing tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar programming/simulation environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs or missile defense-related efforts.
- Experience with systems engineering processes, requirements analysis, or technical integration.
- Experience with modeling and simulation tools, scientific computing, or data analysis.
- Experience with aerospace systems, propulsion, combustion, or advanced materials.
- Experience with SolidWorks, CAD modeling, additive manufacturing, or prototype development.
- Active Secret clearance.
