Description
The NI ADG (Aerospace, Defense, Government Business Unit) Customer Centric Solutions Team is seeking to hire an experienced Principal Systems Design Engineer to work on custom engineering opportunities that enable the sale of standard NI Products.
Responsibilities
- Interacting with a wide variety of NI customers, NI staff, external alliance partners and suppliers in support of designing, implementing and sustaining custom solutions
- Generating requirements documents, statements of work and Bills of Materials
- Defining and implementing project plans, managing milestones and holding reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and readiness for deployment
- Specifying, designing, prototyping, testing, and deploying turnkey automated solutions
- Directing support personnel, managing project technical deliverables, guiding technical decisions and driving field found issues to resolution
Requirements
- B. S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering Technology
- Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience in a Hardware Systems Design Role or a Test Engineering Design Role
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering, electronics & computer architecture
- Understanding of high-level programming languages (LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++/C#)
- Demonstrated understanding of the following concepts and principles:
- Sources of measurement error
- Appropriate selection of test and measurement instrumentation and equipment
- Understanding of schematics and wiring diagrams
- Integration of hardware and software
- Bill of Materials creation and review
- Cable Harness Design
- Hands on use of schematic capture tools and PCB design tools
- Knowledge in Component Supplier Selection
- Knowledge in Compliance Certifications (CE, UL, TUV, Etc.)
- Hands on use of NI Hardware Platforms and Instruments
- Hands on use of NI LabVIEW and Test Stand
Qualifications
- US Person (U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 22 CFR120)
- Ability to work on ITAR projects and qualify for DoD Clearances
