Systems Architect Engineer - Level 4
This position offers relocation assistance and requires an active SCI clearance at start. Travel is expected at 10% of the time.
About the Role
Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a highly motivated Systems Architect who will operate within a study, capture, or program execution effort and focus on driving consistency and alignment across technical thread capabilities to define a complete architecture solution. This role is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining associated business and/or customer funding, as well as obtaining final clearances and program access within a reasonable period.
Responsibilities
- Work with systems engineering stakeholders across capability threads and operations to develop and refine advanced system architectures and operational concepts that align with mission objectives.
- Develop and maintain architecture artifacts (Technical Description Document, CONOPS/OPSCON) that contain a detailed, comprehensive overview of the entire system design and operations.
- Support mission planning and execution by ensuring all documentation reflects current system status and operational intent.
- Support trade studies to evaluate design decisions and define the resulting architecture.
- Leverage Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, methodologies, and workflows to develop, maintain, and validate system models as the technical baseline for efforts that embrace MBSE.
- Support the Systems Engineering team to define and document the system design, requirements, interfaces, and mission/operational concept within the MBSE tool suite.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 8+ years of engineering experience, OR
- Master's degree in STEM discipline with 6+ years of engineering experience, OR
- PhD in STEM discipline with 4+ years of engineering experience.
- U.S. Citizenship with active SCI access at time of application (SSBI completed within the last 5 years), OR
- U.S. Citizenship with an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (SSBI completed within the last 5 years) and the ability to obtain and maintain active SCI access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Cameo Enterprise Architect, and SysML modeling (or equivalent).
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and tackle complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (or equivalent) with active SCI access at time of application.

Pay
Primary level salary range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00. The final offer considers scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
Schedule
Flexible schedules available, such as a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees to work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off.
