Responsibilities
- Ensures Epic Hospital Billing module functions as intended and meets operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Provides advanced analysis, workflow design, system configuration, troubleshooting, project leadership, and serves as Tier 2/3 support for Hospital Billing-related applications.
- Participates in Epic upgrades, leads testing cycles, develops documentation, and optimizes Hospital Billing workflows to enhance accuracy, productivity, and data integrity.
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Epic Hospital Billing application, including Charging, Charge Router, GL, Workqueues, System Actions, Account Activities, Estimates, Statements, extracts and integrations, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Design, configure, build, and maintain Epic Hospital Billing application functionality to support charging, billing, claims submission, patient statements, and payment posting workflows.
- Analyze and optimize workflows across Hospital Billing domains, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing system-based solutions to enhance efficiency and revenue cycle performance.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify issues, addressing risks before they impact billing, reimbursement, or business operations.
- Assess and manage system interdependencies, ensuring Hospital Billing workflows integrate effectively with upstream and downstream applications, including clinical apps, coding, and external vendor systems.
- Translate regulatory and payer requirements into Epic system configuration and workflow updates, ensuring compliance and accurate billing.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution for Epic Hospital Billing application, including root cause analysis and sustainable solution design.
- Lead and support projects and enhancements, including new functionality implementation, upgrades, vendor changes, and workflow redesign initiatives, while adhering to organizational project management (PMO) methodologies.
- Develop and execute test plans and scripts, validating system functionality during upgrades, optimizations, payer changes, and new feature deployments.
- Manage vendor and external partner interactions, serving as the primary point of contact for third-party systems to ensure seamless integration and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including revenue cycle, clinical, operational, IT teams, and external partners, to ensure alignment of workflows, system functionality, and organizational goals; support knowledge sharing and cross-training across application teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience Epic Hospital Billing support is required.
- Must have Epic Hospital Billing Application Certification or able to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong understanding of Claims, Remittance, Clearinghouses, Payers and Plans.
