Systems Administrator - Surveillance

Under the direction of the Manager, Surveillance Systems, the Systems Administrator plays a key role in the strategic planning, deployment, configuration, security, and ongoing management of surveillance systems and infrastructure. This role ensures system integrity, rapid recovery, and compliance with department, Tribal, state, and federal regulations to support uninterrupted gaming activity across all properties owned and operated by the Tribe, including Yaamava Resort & Casino, retail, entertainment venues, amenities, food & beverage areas, remote sites, and the Reservation.

Responsibilities

• Installs, configures, monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots servers, network switches, storage devices, wireless devices, PC clients, peripherals, virtualization, domain controllers, Active Directory, and software applications, as well as integration.
• Ensures all Surveillance Department system components, equipment, and infrastructure are installed and operating in strict alignment with industry, regulatory, and department standards.
• Configures, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots IT systems and devices, including servers, switches, networks, storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS), and personal computers using technologies like Fiber Channel (FC) and iSCSI.
• Administers multisite storage environments and manages operating systems and applications such as Windows Server (SQL Server, Active Directory, Domain Controllers), VMware, vSphere & vCenter, video management software, backup software, reporting software, Point of Sale datamining software, and video analytics software.
• Performs regularly scheduled systems checks, manages backups, verifies data integrity, conducts audits, manages user accounts and permissions, and provides technical support to end-users.
• Maintains and troubleshoots surveillance systems and applications, ensuring optimization through regular updates.
• Processes work orders, documents work performed, and provides accurate daily and/or weekly status reporting.
• Responds to and proactively plans for service outages, leading resolution efforts in collaboration with Surveillance Technicians, external vendors, and support teams.
• Contributes to the development and execution of key strategies, best practices, and optimization tactics for system performance.
• Provides input during project planning and task execution, negotiates and meets deadlines in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities, and works extended hours as needed to ensure system continuity.
• Provides expert knowledge and support for business applications and offers feedback or solutions to technical, physical installation, or mechanical challenges.
• Researches surveillance and IT technologies and makes recommendations on enhancements to ensure efficient and cost-effective surveillance systems operation.
• Participates in the development and implementation of key strategies, best practices, and tactics ensuring systems optimization.
• Performs assigned tasks independently with minimal supervision, adapts to new technologies and processes through required training, and operates server lift equipment safely and in compliance with company standards.
• Reviews and stays current on the Surveillance Department Manual (SDM), San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission Regulations, Casino policies and procedures, and applicable Federal, State, and Tribal regulations by completing required training, monitoring updates at least quarterly, and applying this knowledge to ensure compliance.
• Responds to enterprise technical support requests on an on-call basis, ensuring availability and resolution of critical issues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required. Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Surveillance Technology, Information Technology (IT), Low Voltage Systems, Surveillance Systems Technical Support, IT Data Center Operations, or related technical field. Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.

Skills

• Experience in configuring, installing, and troubleshooting IT systems, appliances, and devices such as servers, switches, networks, storage devices, and PCs.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server, VMware; Streamvault experience strongly preferred.
• Direct experience with Palo Alto, Pure Storage, Dell Isilon, Cisco, ESXi, Extreme switching, and centralized storage appliances is preferred.
• Knowledge of security principles and techniques, group policies, and asset management tools applied in securing operating systems, data, and LAN/WAN networks.
• Experience with IT systems monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Dynatrace).
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
• Proven commitment to working in a team environment with a capacity for self-direction and a strong willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English for safety purposes.
• Personable and professional, capable of using caution and discretion in communication.

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

• At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
• Must hold or be able to obtain within 1 year from the date of start in the department and maintain Certified Fiber Optic Installer (FOI) certification.
• Must hold or be able to obtain within 1 year from the date of start in the department and maintain Genetec beginner and advanced certification.
• Vocational/Technical/Business certification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
• Certifications such as CompTIA (various), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Extreme Networks Associate (XNA), Extreme Certified Specialist (ECS), or Extreme Design Specialist (EDS) are preferred.
• Authorized Driver: Role requires operation or driving of Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the insurance carrier is required.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
• Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
• May be required to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
• Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, and move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
