About the role

This Systems Administrator position supports our team onsite in Huntsville, AL. An active Interim Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one is required.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and deploy Windows-based servers.
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues.
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Install and configure new hardware and software.
  • Add, remove, or update user account information and reset passwords.
  • Document system configurations.
  • Troubleshoot reporting problems and ensure network infrastructure uptime.
  • Configure, add, and delete file systems.
  • Ensure parity between dev, test, and production environments.
  • Perform SCAP Scans and complete STIG Checklists for RMF compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) guidelines.
  • Act as a bridge between legacy Windows infrastructure and modern Linux workloads for seamless interoperability and uptime.
  • Participate in the migration, deployment, and monitoring of resources within Microsoft Azure under senior engineer mentorship.
  • Utilize command-line interfaces to automate repetitive tasks, monitor system health, and manage user accounts.
  • Champion Linux-based open-source tools to improve system performance, logging, and monitoring efficiency.
  • Provide Tier 1/2 troubleshooting support using structured problem-solving methodologies.

Requirements

  • Required certification: DoD 8571.01M approved Information Assurance-Technical (IAT) Level II (or IAT Level III) certification such as CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Windows Systems Administration.

Skills

  • Preferred Certifications: Azure, Linux, AWS.
  • Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows, Linux (any).
  • Platforms: Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle.
  • Server Applications: Microsoft server suite of applications.
  • Software Applications: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong command of the English language.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments.
  • Execute tasks independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Learn and memorize routine tasks.

Physical and Mental Qualifications

  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk while working on a computer (mouse and keyboard).
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Maintain awareness during scheduled working hours.
