About the role
The Systems Administrator will provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems. They will manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems, assist users in accessing and using IT systems, and provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
- Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
- Support the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
- Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning
- Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
- Support the design of the systems, mission architecture and associated hardware
- Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software integration
Qualifications
- TS/SCI PolyB
- + 15 years experience
- 5 yrs experience in Information Assurance (In addition to systems-based operating systems, configure and manage virtual environments)
- 5 yrs experience in Information Technology (Patch systems based on state-of-the-art security and functional parameters)
- Experience with enterprise-level Linux distributions (e.g. Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and command line interface (CLI)
- Experience with system automation tools with a focus on Ansible
- Knowledge of network protocols and services (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare, KVM, Docker, OpenShift)
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Nagios, Zabbix, ELK Stack)
- Understanding of security best practices and protocols
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Gitlab)
