Systems Administrator III z/OS

Applies expert knowledge of the Exchange IBM z/OS (mainframe) computing platform management process to support the operating system software, hardware and system support software for the z/OS portfolio. Schedules new installs and upgrades to provide the best support for the z/OS community. Monitors and tunes the operating software, supporting software and hardware to achieve optimum performance. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and documentation, provides project leadership for the planning and execution of major z/OS projects, and provides guidance and advice to developers and users concerning the z/OS platform capabilities, software, hardware, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, configure, monitor, tune and maintain z/OS operating systems.
• Ensure internal controls are adhered to in relation to compliance requirements, audit procedures, and security by following industry best practices and Exchange policies.
• Ensure data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
• Define disaster recovery requirements and plan and deliver a disaster recovery solution for the z/OS platform.
• Coordinate with business units, the project management office (PMO), outside entities and IT staff to confirm compliance and risk mitigation has been met.
• Serve as third level support by identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting non-routine events and incidents with z/OS computing platform.
• Respond to telephone calls and email requests for z/OS management processes.
• Safeguard physical access to Exchange restricted data, processes and services.

Major Duties

• Analyzes system problems and implements solutions.
• Installs, customizes and maintains computer software.
• Provides technical support to junior staff and operations.
• Represents the work section in high level strategy meetings.
• Researches and recommends technical solutions and innovations to management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Five years of recent (within the last 6 years) hands-on experience in system administration and software installation. Experience in all the following areas: software installation, performance tuning, trouble shooting, configuration of SAN connected storage and system hardware configuration. Experience in creating virtual environments.

Or Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in the last five years of hands-on experience in system administration and software installation. Experience in all the following areas: software installation, performance tuning, trouble shooting, configuration of SAN connected storage and system hardware configuration. Experience in creating virtual environments.

Additional Qualifications/Requirements

• Work – Onsite (HQ – Dallas, Texas/Exchange Location)

Technical (Preferred/Required Skills/Systems)

• ZOS/MVS/JES MAINFRAME - Required
• A subject matter expert for DB2 software upgrades, DB2 day to day support for application assistance for problem determination and resolution, DB2 performance and tuning, and DB2 disaster recovery testing expertise are all minimum requirements.
