Systems Administrator

About the role

VTG is seeking a System Administrator for a technical development program supporting the Sponsor’s Attribute Services within the IDAM/ICAM space. The role involves designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining a cloud‑native service architecture that software development teams can leverage. You will work directly with implementation teams to provide technical guidance and prioritize cloud implementation. The position includes an on‑call rotation to ensure mission‑critical services remain operational 24/7/365, typically one full calendar week every two months.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and deliver innovative products, services, or combinations thereof to meet customer requirements.
• Support the development of enterprise software solutions within AWS.
• Develop innovative approaches and solutions using non‑quantitative tools and past experience.
• Perform security patching and support servers in an AWS environment.
• Provide execution guidance and practical engineering support to mission teams.
• Ensure the mission‑critical application remains operational 24/7.
• Support a COTS service that provides attribute data via an LDAP interface to hundreds of Sponsor systems.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor’s degree (BS) and 11–15 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in Linux‑based operating systems.
• Strong Bash scripting skills.
• Experience with the security accreditation process.
• Ability to support system administration and privileged access duties, including the on‑call rotation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented mindset.
• Experience interacting with cross‑functional project teams (software development, system engineering, verification & validation, security, compliance, quality assurance).
• Experience working in Agile environments.

Skills

• Proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) console, CLI, and services for infrastructure‑as‑code automation.
• Experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure‑as‑code concepts.
• Understanding of architecting and designing enterprise cloud solutions on AWS.
• Experience with Elastic Stack tools (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Beats).
• Familiarity with DevOps CI/CD technologies such as GitHub, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Rundeck, etc.
• Ability to read and execute complex software and infrastructure deployment instructions.
