Systems Administrator

About the role

SAIC is seeking a systems administrator in Albuquerque, New Mexico to support Space Systems Command and the US Space Force. The role involves solving problems, building technical solutions, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Work on Linux systems administration teams, covering networking and security for both on-premises and cloud deployments.
• Support system integrations and cross-team deployments.
• Build and enhance configuration and automation tools.
• Participate in security activities including patching, auditing, remediation, and recovery.
• Explore and test emerging technologies that can enhance mission capabilities.
• Improve daily processes, troubleshoot issues, and join a rotating on-call schedule.
• Contribute to project planning, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Collaborate on technical documents to ensure transparency and alignment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (U.S. citizenship required).
• At least 2 years of IT support or systems administration experience.
• Hands-on Linux experience, particularly with Red Hat.
• Comfortable with Bash scripting and a second scripting language like Python.
• Familiarity with DoD 8140.03-compliant security practices (Security+ certification preferred).
• Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework).

• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

Skills

• Storage administration experience.
• Experience with Puppet and/or Ansible.
• Knowledge of Cisco/Juniper networking gear.
• Experience securing Linux environments.
• Familiarity with virtualization tools.
