We are looking for a Systems Administrator to support and strengthen a dynamic IT environment in Wisconsin. This contract opportunity is well suited for a hands-on specialist who can combine end-user support with infrastructure administration across servers, networks, cloud platforms, and security. The role offers broad technical exposure and the chance to improve system reliability, user experience, and day-to-day technology operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical assistance for employees by resolving issues related to computers, applications, connectivity, and enterprise systems.
- Administer user identities, access levels, and security permissions within Microsoft-based platforms and related business systems.
- Maintain and support Windows server environments, including core services that keep business systems stable, available, and secure.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot endpoint devices such as desktops, laptops, mobile tools, peripherals, and communication hardware.
- Track infrastructure health and respond to performance concerns or outages to minimize disruption and maintain continuity.
- Assist with network operations by supporting switching, wireless access, firewall connectivity, and general troubleshooting across the environment.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding tasks by preparing accounts, assigning appropriate access, and deploying equipment for employees.
- Contribute to backup, recovery, and disaster preparedness efforts to help protect business data and maintain operational resilience.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through documentation, standardization, and automation using scripting tools where appropriate.
- Promote strong security practices across systems, devices, and user access while helping enforce established IT controls.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or technical support within a business setting.
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Working knowledge of core network services and troubleshooting, including DNS, DHCP, switching, wireless connectivity, and general connectivity issues.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, desktop, and access-related problems for both technical and non-technical users.
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with networking technologies and tools, including Cisco environments, Meraki, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Scripting exposure with PowerShell, Python, or similar tools, along with strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
