About the role
Iron Bow Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for our client site at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida. The Systems Administrator is responsible for the advanced administration, maintenance, and optimization of computer systems and networks within an organization.
Responsibilities
This role involves a high level of technical expertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and implementing security measures to ensure the reliability and security of IT infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- DoD Enterprise System Administration: Maintain compliance with DISA STIGs, SRGs, RMF controls, and ACAS vulnerability findings.
- Manage privileged access, PKI/CAC authentication, and multi-domain account operations.
- Coordinate patch cycles, validate compliance, and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Support incident response, documentation, and escalation procedures.
- Apply system hardening, GPOs, and secure configurations across Windows, Linux, and virtualized systems.
- Monitor enterprise systems using Splunk, ACAS, MECM, and vCenter.
- Support DNS, DHCP, AD, VLANs, and routing fundamentals for secure network operations.
- Develop SOPs, technical guides, and repeatable workflows.
- Follow DoD change management processes and maintain configuration control.
- Collaborate with mission teams to ensure system availability and operational alignment.
Additional responsibilities include:
- MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager): Package, test, and deploy applications with proper detection and supersedence logic.
- Manage Software Update Points, patch deployments, and compliance reporting.
- Build and maintain OSD task sequences, boot images, drivers, and PXE services.
- Troubleshoot client health issues including WMI, BITS, and CCMExec failures.
- Manage Distribution Points, content replication, and boundary group configuration.
- Active Directory: Manage user, group, and computer accounts with proper access control.
- Create, link, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects.
- Monitor domain controller health, replication, and FSMO roles.
- Support Kerberos, NTLM, service accounts, and delegation.
- Diagnose AD issues using dcdiag, repadmin, Event Viewer, and DNS tools.
- ACAS (Assured Compliance Assessment Solution): Configure and run credentialed scans using Nessus, Tenable.sc, and PVS.
- Interpret STIG/CVE findings and prioritize remediation.
- Resolve scan failures related to credentials, firewalls, DNS, or endpoint configuration.
- Generate compliance reports and track remediation progress.
- ESS (Endpoint Security Solutions): Manage ePO servers, agents, policies, and communication health.
- Administer antivirus, firewall, ATP, device control, and threat prevention policies.
- Monitor threat events and coordinate remediation actions.
- Deploy DAT updates, engines, ENS, DLP, and Drive Encryption.
- Produce compliance dashboards and audit-ready reports.
- Virtualization: Administer VMware ESXi, vCenter, and Hyper-V hosts, clusters, and datastores.
- Provision, harden, and validate virtual machines for mission workloads.
- Monitor performance and troubleshoot host/VM issues.
- Configure virtual networking, VLANs, distributed switches, and storage integrations.
- Maintain HA/DRS clusters, patch hosts, and support vMotion operations.
- Exchange Management: Manage mailboxes, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, and permissions.
- Monitor Exchange server health, DAG replication, queues, and database status.
- Troubleshoot mail flow using connectors and message tracking logs.
- Maintain DAG availability and perform failover testing.
- Support hybrid Exchange/O365 environments and directory synchronization.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on system administration experience in production Linux and/or Windows environments.
- Demonstrated experience monitoring system health, reviewing logs, and triaging production incidents end-to-end.
- Experience administering identity and access management — creating, modifying, and deprovisioning user accounts, managing groups, and enforcing role-based access controls.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- Security+ CE or equivalent DoD M 8140 Cyberspace Workforce Qualification and Management Program certification.
Skills
- Proficiency with shell scripting and at least one general-purpose scripting language (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automating routine tasks.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $95,000. This range reflects the anticipated base pay for the position and is not a guarantee of final compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, education, location, contract requirements, and business needs.
