Systems Administrator

About the role

The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT systems and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and secure technology services.

What you’ll work on

• Administer, monitor, and maintain servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and enterprise applications.
• Configure, support, and optimize Windows and Linux operating environments.
• Manage virtualization environments such as VMware vSphere, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
• Oversee network services, including DNS, DHCP, IP address management, and basic routing and subnetting functions.
• Perform hardware installation, “rack and stack”, troubleshooting, and component replacement.
• Install, mount, and maintain servers, switches, and storage arrays, including performing hardware RAID configuration and overseeing hands‑on datacenter server management.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and system continuity plans.
• Ensure systems adhere to security, compliance, and organizational standards.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide root-cause analysis.
• Support onboarding of new hardware, virtual machines, and applications.
• Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to support new technologies and proof-of-concept efforts.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with systems administration or infrastructure roles
• Experience with scripting in tools such as PowerShell or Bash
• Experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter management
• Experience in Windows Server and Linux, including RHEL
• Managing DNS, DHCP, and network services
• Knowledge of NFS storage, distributed switches, virtual networking, and networking fundamentals such as VLANs, subnets, and IP addressing
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
• Bachelor's degree

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery tools
• Experience with Python
• Possession of strong documentation and communication skills
• Industry Certifications such as VMware VCP, CompTIA Linux+, or Microsoft Certifications
