About the role

We are seeking a Systems Administrator with experience in both Windows and Linux environments. This role involves deploying and securing servers, managing vulnerabilities, and troubleshooting within secure settings. The position requires working full-time and on-site at our Linthicum, MD campus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a Linux/Red Hat and Windows Systems Administrator.
  • Deploy and harden RHEL servers, apply STIGs, and manage patching and vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of computer infrastructure, coordinating with various engineering and security teams.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements to improve performance and reliability.
  • Provide backup and recovery services and manage data storage devices.
  • Create and maintain user accounts and manage file permissions.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with DoD STIGs and working with IT/IA to develop POA&Ms for vulnerabilities.
  • Manage Splunk environments, including indexers, search heads, and creating dashboards.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 7 years of experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or
  • Master's degree and 3 years of experience, or
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 9 years of experience.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance before starting program work.
  • CompTIA Security+ (Sec+) Cert or CompTIA level 2 equivalent.
  • An Active DOD Secret Clearance.
  • Experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) OS.
  • Experience managing Windows Server OS and domain architecture.
  • Comfortable with VMware, backups, scripting, and virtualization.
  • Understanding of basic networking, including Cisco switches and routers.
  • An IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or greater is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an IS-related field.
  • Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM, RMF, STIG, or JSIG environments.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware in a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of Windows AD, LDAP, and SAN storage systems.
  • VMWare experience with a current version.
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (e.g., HBSS, SolarWinds, Splunk).
  • Experience with the creation and deployment of system images.
  • A DoD 8570 Certification in a primary OS (Windows, Linux, Cisco).
